Casa Brasil Coffees began in Austin, Texas, in 2005 as a cultural center sharing Brazilian language, culture, and supporting the local Brazilian community in Central Texas. When founder Joel Shuler saw that Brazilian coffees were not receiving the recognition they deserved, he set out to change that—traveling
extensively, building lasting partnerships with growers, and earning a master’s degree in Post-Harvest Processing of Coffee at the Universidade Federal de Lavras, one of the world’s leading coffee universities. For more than a decade, he has also served as the main cupping trainer for the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association, training hundreds of professionals and helping raise quality standards across the country.
