Agropecuária São Gotardo

The Região do Cerrado Mineiro, Brazil’s first coffee region to earn a Denomination of Origin, sits entirely within Minas Gerais yet spans over 210,000 hectares across 55 municipalities. With more than 4,500 producers, the region yields around five million bags of coffee annually, nearly half of which carry environmental or social certifications. Its tropical savanna climate—warm, humid summers and cool, dry winters—combined with altitudes between 800 and 1,300 meters and gently rolling terrain, creates ideal conditions for coffee cultivation on both small and large farms.

Coffees from Cerrado Mineiro are celebrated for their caramel, chocolate, and nutty flavors, balanced by mild citric acidity and a full body. To earn the Denomination of Origin seal, coffees must meet strict criteria for traceability, altitude, cup score and proper storage and packaging. Casa Brasil Coffees was proud to be the first U.S. roaster to work with coffees carrying this prestigious seal, highlighting both origin and quality.
