Agropecuária São Gotardo is the First Place winner of the Cerrado Award, Natural Category. Grower Ernesto Yamamoto’s vibrant, expressive lot once again raised the bar at one of Brazil’s most prestigious competitions. In fact, the judges scored it an outstanding 90.41.

About the Farm — Agropecuária São Gotardo

Agropecuária São Gotardo grows its coffee in the Cerrado Mineiro of Minas Gerais — Brazil’s first Denomination of Origin coffee region. Here, high plateaus, well-defined seasons, and dry winters create ideal conditions for ripening and drying. This lot is the Paraiso MG2 cultivar, and Yamamoto processed it as a natural. The cherries dry whole, and slow fermentation inside the fruit builds intense fruit character and syrupy sweetness.

What’s in the Cup

This coffee bursts with notes of lemongrass tea, fresh lemon, tangerine, and pineapple. A bright, citric acidity lifts the cup and brings clarity and structure. Meanwhile, a silky body carries through to a long finish, where layers of syrupy sweetness linger. It’s a striking balance of intensity and elegance. In short, this is an award-winning coffee with both precision and personality.

For brewing, this coffee shines as a pour-over or drip. Those methods show off its citrus clarity and silky body best. However, the syrupy sweetness also makes for a bright, fruit-forward espresso. Start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
