Fazenda Das Almas

Founded in 1942 by the Muniz Family in the mountains of Cabo Verde, Minas Gerais, Fazenda das Almas was built on a deep commitment to coffee and community. In its early years, coffee was processed using steam-powered machines, reflecting the resilience of its founders. The name “Almas” (“Souls”) traces back to early Portuguese settlers, who held religious ceremonies on the region’s highest points. Now in its third generation, the farm has produced over 80 harvests, continuously evolving through improved agricultural practices, gradual mechanization, and a focus on quality—while maintaining its traditional roots.

Today, Fazenda das Almas cultivates 102 hectares of Arabica varieties at elevations of 950–1,150 meters, where a mountainous microclimate supports exceptional cup quality. Manual harvesting remains essential due to the steep terrain, supporting local employment and careful cherry selection. A pioneer in sustainability, the farm was among the first in the region to earn UTZ, BSCA, and Rainforest Alliance certifications, and continues to invest in precise processing and controlled fermentation to ensure consistency and clarity in every lot.
