Fazenda Recanto

Since 1896, the Magalhães Paiva family has been growing coffee at Fazenda Recanto, where many of the farm’s original structures are still in use today. Recanto has been recognized for quality for nearly a century, earning awards as far back as the 1930s and, more recently, winning the Rainforest Alliance’s Cupping for Quality competition. Since 1985, Maria Selma and Afranio have managed the farm, maintaining its reputation by producing exceptional coffees year after year. Having raised their family on the property, they now share management with their daughter Paula, the fifth generation of Magalhães Paiva coffee growers.

Alongside their dedication to quality, the family has made sustainability a central focus at Fazenda Recanto. In 2006, they became one of the first farms in Brazil to earn Rainforest Alliance certification. Today, more than one-third of the property is protected as a natural preserve, safeguarding the rich biodiversity of Recanto for generations to come.
