Mantiqueira de Minas
In southern Minas Gerais, the high altitudes, rich soils, and abundant water of the Mantiqueira Mountains combine with generations of coffee know-how. The result? Coffees that are remarkably sweet, clean, and bright. Our Mantiqueira de Minas regional blend captures that mountain character in every bag.
The Mantiqueira de Minas Region
The name comes from a Tupi word often translated as “the mountains that weep” — a nod to the countless springs that water these slopes. Coffee thrives here. Roughly 9,200 growers farm more than 70,000 hectares across 25 municipalities, producing about 1.5 million bags each year. Moreover, the region sits within the lush Mata Atlântica ecosystem, and it was among the first in Brazil to focus exclusively on specialty coffee. That head start shows in the cup: high altitude slows ripening, so the cherries build sugar and complexity before harvest. Several of our microlot partners farm these same slopes — which tells you the neighborhood’s pedigree.
What’s in the Cup
Caramel sweetness opens the cup. Next comes mandarin orange, bright and juicy. Finally, sugarcane sweetness carries into a long, lingering finish. The acidity stays crisp and citric, while the overall impression is sweet, clean, and polished. Consequently, this blend makes a sparkling pour-over and a lively drip. It also shines iced, where the mandarin note takes over. For filter brewing, start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
