Norte Pioneiro do Paraná
The Tropic of Capricorn runs straight through Norte Pioneiro do Paraná. That makes it one of the few places on Earth where coffee grows outside the tropics. Our Norte Pioneiro do Paraná regional blend celebrates that frontier spirit: sweet caramel flavor, a creamy body, and a smooth, silky aftertaste.
The Norte Pioneiro do Paraná Region
This is coffee at the edge of the map. The region spans 45 municipalities and 155,000 hectares in Paraná state, at altitudes of 500 to 900 meters. Unusually for coffee country, it experiences four distinct seasons. Winters bring real chill to these hills. Consequently, the trees ripen their fruit through genuine temperature swings, which builds sweetness and character. The region earned Geographic Indication status in 2012. Moreover, it accounts for less than 3% of Brazil’s total production — a small output with an outsized personality. Growers here innovate out of necessity, and pioneers like Fazenda Califórnia have turned those constraints into world-class coffee.
What’s in the Cup
Sweet caramel leads, wrapped in a creamy, chocolatey body. Then hazelnut adds a toasty depth. Finally, a crisp green apple note brightens the finish, leaving the aftertaste smooth and silky. In short, this is a comfort cup with a twist. It makes an excellent everyday drip and a rich French press, while espresso drinkers get a nutty, caramel-forward shot. Iced, it drinks like caramel apple in a glass. For filter brewing, start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
