Sítio Cachoeirinha
Sítio Cachoeirinha is the kind of coffee our Microlots collection exists for: a limited, single-farm lot you will not find in any blend. Grower Marcos Luiz Pereira raises the Arara cultivar, a yellow-fruited Brazilian variety prized for its sweetness and clean, clear cup. In this lot, everything came together beautifully.
About Sítio Cachoeirinha
Cachoeirinha means “little waterfall” in Portuguese — a fitting name for a cup this refreshing. Small farms like this one — sítios — are where much of Brazil’s most exciting coffee now comes from. Marcos processed this lot as a natural, which is coffee’s high-wire act. The cherries dry whole in the sun, and the slow fermentation inside the fruit builds sweetness and aroma. However, naturals leave no room for error: dry too slowly or unevenly, and defects creep in. It takes constant attention to get right. This one went right. Consequently, the fruit character is vivid, yet the cup stays remarkably clean and precise.
What’s in the Cup
Peach arrives first, ripe and juicy. Then watermelon adds a fresh, summery sweetness. Finally, a floral finish lingers — rare and delicate for a Brazilian coffee. If you usually drink chocolatey Brazilian coffees, this cup will happily surprise you. We like it best as a pour-over or drip, where those fruit notes have room to open up. It also makes a gorgeous iced coffee on warm afternoons. For filter brewing, start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
Like all of our microlots, this is a limited harvest — once this lot is gone, it’s gone. Explore the collection for more small-lot discoveries. Or better yet, let us bring coffees like this to your door with the Brazilian Coffee Lovers Club. Members receive a featured single-farm coffee each month, plus 5% off every microlot. Available in 12oz and 5lbs bags, whole bean or freshly ground for your preferred brew method.
