Sítio Serra Negra

Sítio Serra Negra is a small-farm gem from grower Douglas Moreira da Silva — a limited, single-lot microlot built around the Catucaí cultivar and the natural process. The cup is classic Brazil with a lift: brown sugar sweetness, ripe yellow fruit, and a bright citric finish. In short, it is comfort and brightness in the same mug.

About Sítio Serra Negra

The name means “black mountain ridge,” and like all sítios, this is family-scale farming — the kind of small property behind much of Brazil’s most exciting coffee today. For this lot, the cherries were processed as a natural. They dry whole in the sun, and the slow fermentation inside the fruit builds sweetness and fruit character. Naturals demand constant attention, because uneven drying invites defects. Done well, however, the reward is a cup like this one: sweet, expressive, and clean. Catucaí helps too. The cultivar is a Brazilian favorite for productive, resilient trees that still cup beautifully.

What’s in the Cup

Brown sugar arrives first, deep and comforting. Then ripe yellow fruit fills the middle — think ripe stone fruit warmed by the sun. Finally, a citric brightness snaps the finish clean. It is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants to try a natural for the first time. Consequently, this coffee drinks beautifully as a pour-over or drip, and it makes a sweet, lively iced coffee. For filter brewing, start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
