Fazenda Capadócia

Augusto Borges Ferreira is member of the Associçao dos Produtores do Alto da Serra (APAS) and a long-time Casa Brasil partner whose coffees we look forward to tasting, year after year.

Since 2016, Augusto has participated in Casa Brasil’s Selective Harvest Project. He even invested some of his proceeds in a color sorter to help increase the quality of his coffees. The machine uses an optical sensor to identify under- or overripe cherries, then physically separates them from the ripe coffee. This sorting technology provides an extra safeguard to Augusto’s already meticulous harvesting of ripe fruit, ensuring that his best gets even better.

Augusto’s passion for coffee shows through his interest in the entire supply chain of the business, and his work demonstrates how emphasizing rigorous quality control standards in both harvest and post-harvest processes can lead to excellent coffee. His efforts have paid off as he has received numerous awards, including an impressive seventh place finish in the 2018 Cup of Excellence naturals competition.
